4th Taudaha Jamboree
|
On 2nd February, 2008 WCN organized 4th Taudaha jamboree on the occasion of World Wetland Day to promote Taudaha as an important wetland of the valley and its vicinity as a nature hike route, in partnership with Bird Conservation Nepal (BCN) and local organizations Karkotak Nagraja Nagrani Basasthan Samaj and Taudaha Youth Club (TYC). More than 500 people participated in this one day event.
In the Jamboree, besides information stalls of WCN and BCN, different activities like Nature hike race in Boson Danda, WCN Art festival and Bird watching were conducted. In Nature Hike race, Mr. Anish KC a student of Panga Secondary School completed the race in first place. He completed the race in 30 minutes. Likewise Miss Samita Khatiwada (student of Innovative Secondary School) and Miss Srijana Adhikary (student of Panga Secondary School) completed the race in second and third position.
On the same day WCN organized art festival on the theme "Healthy Wetland, Healthy People" in which fifty students from different schools participated. Bird watching was facilitated by bird experts from BCN.
If Taudaha gets proper attention from nature enthusiasts there is a possibility that this entire area will be preserved in its pristine form. The fund collected from the jamboree was donated to the Taudaha Youth Club, a local club which will be utilized for conservation of the pond.
