Workshop on the Establishment of Wildlife Crime Database

Wildlife Conservation Nepal conducted “Workshop on the Establishment of Wildlife Crime Database on March 10 and 1, 2008 at Thakurdwara, Bardia National Park. The workshop was focused on establishing a Wildlife Crime Database to be effective in monitoring of traders and poachers so as to bring wildlife crime down in the country.

More than 50 participants representing different enforcement agencies like Nepal Army, Nepal Ex-police and National Park actively took part in the workshop. Speakers like Mr Prasanna Yonzon (CEO/WCN), Mr Fanindra Kharel (Chief Warden of BNP) and Mr Arun K.C. (Cornel, Nepal Army) expressed their views on how wildlife crime database can bridge the information gaps between enforcement and line agencies in fighting organized wildlife crime syndicates.
