ABOUT WCN
 

Wildlife Conservation Nepal, a non-governmental organization registered with the Government of Nepal, is not for profit organization. It was established with a view to protect and conserve natural heritage and disseminate information on environment and wildlife issues.

WCN’s mission statement is to involve local communities, civil societies, scientific communities and conservationists in environment protection, natural resource management, promote sustainable use of natural resources so that the benefits accrued reach the grass root level while conserving natural resources.

WCN protects and conserves endangered species by monitoring illegal wildlife trade and conducts field level activities to safeguard wildlife species in their natural habitat. Similarly, it designs and conducts researches, trainings and workshops and enhances capacity of enforcement officials in combating wildlife trade. Furthermore, it provides leadership trainings to young individuals and students so that wildlife is protected in their natural habitat.

For realizing its vision, WCN has developed programs on environment and wildlife conservation, considered available resources and selected realistic goals with best options for achieving them through its strategic plan.

To achieve the objectives WCN will conduct doable programs that benefit people while protecting and conserving biodiversity.

Vision
To have a civil society and community that cares to protect and conserve the natural flora and fauna of Nepal

Mission

Role
Implement innovative programs in schools, communities and civil societies.
Monitor and provide information on wildlife trade and markets to line agencies for immediate action.
Disseminate information on wildlife conservation to civil society. Sensitize and develop awareness on wildlife issues through trainings, seminars and workshops.
Conduct research, wildlife crime investigation and wildlife rescue missions.
Promote sustainable use of natural resources so that the benefits accrued reach the grass root level while conserving natural resources.
